Dr. Bruce Nichols B.Sc., M.D., FRCSC, FACS

Dr. Nichols received his Medical Degree (MD) from McMaster University in 1980 after completion of an Honours Biology Degree at the University of Waterloo. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Saskatchewan after a two year residency in Family Medicine at The University of Western Ontario. He then trained with a world leader in LASIK surgery undertaking a Fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Nichols is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In practice since 1987, Dr. Nichols has performed over 25,000 refractive surgical procedures. These include PRK, LASIK, Intacs, Corneal Crosslinking and Intraocular lens implants. His Laser experience dates from 1995 using a variety of laser platforms including the WaveLight EX-500, iFS Intralase, VISX, Bausch and Lomb Technolas, Autonomous LADAR Vision and Sunrise. Dr. Nichols is accomplished with the Catalys Femtosecond laser for cataract and lens based surgeries.
Dr. Nichols is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Western University and is the Head of the Cornea and External Disease Unit. He is a faculty member at The Ivey Institute of Ophthalmology, St. Joseph's Health Center in London specializing in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Nichols is Past President of The Canadian Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society and a member of The International Society of Refractive Surgery. Other memberships include The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Canadian Ophthalmological Society, and The American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nichols received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 1999 for his teaching and dedication within that society. He received the E.A. Baker Fellowship; is a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lion's Clubs International and is a Canadian National Research Council Scholar.
Dr. Nichols has given over 150 scientific presentations and provides training to surgeons and Eye Doctors at conferences across North America. He is widely published in peer reviewed journals and is well known as an invited guest speaker at medical meetings at home and abroad. Dr. Nichols is also instrument rated private pilot and flies for enjoyment and business to destinations across North America and the Caribbean.
Linda joined the Dr. Nichols team in April of 2012. Linda graduated from the Medical Office program in 2007 and has worked in the Optometric field for several years. Linda grew up in Colombia and is fluent in both English and Spanish, and is a mom of two wonderful children. Linda and her husband enjoy family vacations and spending time with friends.
Maureen has been involved in Ophthalmology administration for over 20 years. She is an integral part of the office team. Her dedication to our patients and her knowledge base is fundamental to the smooth operation of the practice. She is the mother of two grown children and enjoys family time.
